Flow directions of stream‐groundwater exchange in a headwater catchment during the hydrologic year

چکیده
Understanding near-stream groundwater dynamics and flow directions is important for predicting hillslope-stream connectivity, streamflow generation, hydrologic controls of streamwater quality. To determine the drivers in stream corridor (i.e., channel adjacent footslopes riparian areas), we observed water levels 36 wells 7 piezometers along a headwater section over period 18 months. Groundwater during events were controlled by initial position table relative to subsurface structure. The displayed fast pronounced response precipitation when lying fractured bedrock with low storage capacity, responded less frequently way upper layers high capacity. Precipitation depth, intensity, regolith thickness above bedrock, proximity elevation also had an effect on dynamics, which varied conditions. Our high-frequency spatially dense measurements highlight competing influence inflow from upslope locations, level properties spatiotemporal flowpaths corridor. Near-stream pointed uniformly towards was hydrologically connected groundwater. However, local interruptions locations caused reversals footslopes. direction followed topography dry conditions few occasions after events. outcomes this research contribute better understanding controlling changes multiple wetness states

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends
flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
Effects of Thinning on Flow Peaks in a Forested Headwater Catchment in Western Japan
This study examined the changes in rainfall-runoff characteristics in the year prior to and after intensive thinning of 50% in number in a steep headwater catchment, covered with 46-year-old Japanese cedar and cypress in western Japan. The magnitude of event peak flow, event quick flow, event water yield, and event response time did not change after thinning. Because 70% of rainfall events had ...

Model‐based analysis of the influence of catchment properties on hydrologic partitioning across five mountain headwater subcatchments
Ungauged headwater basins are an abundant part of the river network, but dominant influences on headwater hydrologic response remain difficult to predict. To address this gap, we investigated the ability of a physically based watershed model (the Distributed Hydrology-Soil-Vegetation Model) to represent controls on metrics of hydrologic partitioning across five adjacent headwater subcatchments....
